Make the "Alert Sound" section in the sound settings disappear if the "audio-bell" is set to false
Feature summary
Currently, if a distro decides to use a hidden gsettings
to set org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences audible-bell
to false
, the users would think that GNOME is broken since they have no way to know that this hidden gsettings
exist.
Moreover, the audible-bell
setting is a hidden feature (not exposing to the end-users directly), it should not be able to override the behavior of the main setting in the "Alert Sound" section in the sound settings, which is exposed to the user directly. The main setting should act as intended without fail.
How would you like it to work
Please make the "Alert Sound" section in the sound settings disappear if the audio-bell
is set to false
. Otherwise, there should be no hidden setting to make the "Alert Sound" to be broken / non-functional.
However, if GNOME wants to keep an ability to disable the alert sound intact, it's better to add "none" option in the "Alert Sound" section in the sound settings instead.
