Alt-tab focus immediately lost on Wayland with Secondary-Click ('sloppy') window focus if mouse over other window
Affected version
Ubuntu 22.04, Gnome 42, Wayland (not a problem on X11)
Bug summary
Alt-tab focus immediately lost on Wayland with Secondary-Click ('sloppy') window focus if mouse over other window
Steps to reproduce
- Install Gnome Tweaks; Windows » Window Focus » select Secondary-Click (this used to be called "sloppy" focus).
- close all apps, then open 2 apps (e.g. 2 Terminal windows) and move the windows so they are side by side and not overlapping.
- ensure the left window has focus, and that the mouse cursor is over the left window.
- Alt-Tab
What happened
Focus shifts to the right window, but after a split second, focus returns to the left window (the one that the mouse is over).
What did you expect to happen
Focus to move to the Alt-Tabbed-to window and stay there.
I believe the previous/correct/Xorg behaviour is that the right window would retain focus until the mouse was moved away from the left window and onto another.
