"Show Details" does not cause app grid/search to close
Affected version
- GNOME 42 on Fedora 36 (Wayland)
- GNOME 41 + eos-desktop-extension on Endless OS master (Wayland)
Bug summary
Right-clicking an app icon and picking “Show details” should cause GNOME Software to open (or be revealed) at the details page for the app. However:
- On both 42 and Endless-flavoured 41, if you do this from a desktop search Software opens but the search does not close
- On 42 (but not Endless-flavoured 41) if you do this from the app grid or overview, Software can be seen to appear in the window picker but the desktop does not return to the sesion
Steps to reproduce
First case
- Hit Super
- Search for the name of an app which you have installed
- In the top row of search results, right-click and choose Show details
Second case
- Hit Super or Super+A
- Right-click any app icon and pick Show details
What happened
In GNOME 42, the popup menu closes, and (if the workspace switcher is visible) Software can be seen to open, but otherwise I remain in the search or overview.
(In addition, Software 42 doesn't actually show the details but that's another story.)
What did you expect to happen
I would expect the search or overview to close so that Software can be focused and show me the details I asked for.
