GNOME 42: Missing "Save to clipboard" (only) functionality
Affected version
- OS: Arch Linux
- Gnome Shell: 42.beta
- Windowing System: X11
Bug summary
In versions of Gnome shell prior to 42, it was possible to take a screenshot and save it to the clipboard without saving it to filesystem. As far as I can tell, this isn't possible with the new screenshot UI?
I tried Ctrl-C of course, but that just saves things to the disk anyways! It's quite frustrating to continually need to delete screenshots that I just wanted on my clipboard once!
Steps to reproduce
- Open the new screenshot UI with the "Print" or "PrtSc" key
- Select an area and type Ctrl-C
- An unwanted file is saved to disk!
What happened
No option was provided to replace the old "Save to clipboard" (only) functionality
What did you expect to happen
Put the screenshot on the clipboard and not touch the filesystem
Relevant logs, screenshots, screencasts etc.
Turns out that it's hard to screencast the screenshot UI...
