Since GNOME 40/41, gnome-extensions-app crashes on startup (Intel G33 graphics)
Since GNOME 40, my dad's computer, which has an "Intel G33" graphics card to go with its Core2 Quad Q9300 according to GNOME Control Center (lspci
says it's an Intel 82G33/G31 Express Integrated Graphics
chip), cannot configure or manage any extensions because gnome-shell's built-in extensions app crashes as soon as you try to start it. It used to work fine before (in all GNOME versions leading up to 3.36, and possibly 3.38, I don't remember if that one was affected or not). I tested again today on that computer with an up to date GNOME 41 in Fedora 35, and this is what I got:
$ gnome-extensions-app
/usr/bin/gnome-extensions-app: line 2: 3364 Segmentation fault (core dumped) /usr/bin/gjs /usr/share/gnome-extensions-app/org.gnome.Extensions "$@"
I did a dnf debuginfo-install gnome-extensions-app
and tried running this through gdb... but for some weird reason, it doesn't want to run under it:
$ gdb gnome-extensions-app
"/usr/bin/gnome-extensions-app": not in executable format: file format not recognized
(gdb) run
Starting program:
No executable file specified.
Use the "file" or "exec-file" command.
quit)
I realize this is pretty vague but I have no idea how to troubleshoot it otherwise... please let me know if you need more information and how I can provide it.
