Airplane Mode, Bluetooth entries disappeared from upper-right System Status Area
Affected version
- VoidLinux, AMD64
- Linux 5.15.22
- Gnome 41.3
- Wayland
Bug summary
After upgrading to Gnome 41.3 (from 40.1), I noticed that the Airplane Mode and Bluetooth entries disappeared from the upper-right System Status Area. I'm not 100% sure it's related to the upgrade of Gnome itself or to some dependency or other change.
Note that Airplane Mode and Bluetooth technically work normally.
Steps to reproduce
I have no idea what changed to cause this state. However:
If I go to the Settings screen, and then to Wi-Fi, I can see the switch for Airplane Mode. If I toggle it, Airplane Mode will appear in the System Status Area. As soon as I turn in off, it disappears from the System Status Area again.
If I go to the Settings screen and then to Bluetooth, I can see bluetooth is enabled (switch is on), and I can see my paired devices. Moving my bluetooth mouse, or turning on my headphones, or turning on my Xbox Wireless Controller will work flawlessly. The Bluetooth entry never shows up in the System Status Area.
What happened
I can't easily toggle Airplane Mode on or off anymore from the System Status Area. I can't see that Bluetooth is enabled or not, and I can't see any indication in the System Status Area regarding bluetooth devices connected.
What did you expect to happen
I expect the System Status Area to show the Airplane Mode toggle and I definitely expect it to show Bluetooth, especially when I have 3 devices paired and working!
