Suggestions for UX Improvements to Notifications
Feature summary
Notifications in Gnome are fairly intrusive. When an application issues a notification, the popup is shown at the top center of the screen and often covers important UI elements for open applications (browser tabs, browser address bars, directory paths in Files, and others).
Notifications are also fairly distracting; the popup itself is fairly large, and the popup will also remain active until the mouse hovers over the popup or closed explicitly.
How would you like it to work
It would be nice if the placement of the notification popups could be adjusted (e.g. top right, bottom right, etc.). I would also like to be able to configure the notification to hide after some timeout (3 seconds or so, or configurable).
The ability to adjust the content in the popup would be nice as well (e.g. disable icon, width/height, etc.). I think this would help ensure that notifications aren't overly distracting.

I'm sure we're all pretty familiar with what notifications look like, but here's a screenshot.
