SIGABRT when launching application after period of inactivity

Bug summary
After a period of inactivity, launching an app using the keyboard causes a crash to login screen.
Steps to reproduce
Not consistently reproducible, normally occurs when I'm busy with some other task and need a calculator, spreadsheet or browser. Display power save/idle timeout is disabled.
- Login
- Open a few apps (firefox, system monitor, terminal)
- Leave machine idle for ~40 minutes
- Launch calculator via keyboard ( Super, CALC, Enter )
Note, this occurs with other apps as well, no pattern observed. So far: Steam, Libre Calc, Calculator, Firefox, Terminal.
What happened
Crashed with SIGABRT, dropped me back to the login screen.
What did you expect to happen
I expected the app to launch.
