Removable drives ought to be more visible for easy unmounting.
Feature summary
Removable drives are supposed to be unmounted before being unplugged. It's not so obvious how to do this in a default GNOME Shell setup (with no extensions), as one must first open a file manager window. Other desktop environments (KDE) and operating systems (Windows, MacOS) make the action of ejecting removable drives accessible directly from the taskbar or from the desktop.
How would you like it to work
The dash-to-dock extension and Ubuntu's old Unity interface both provide intuitive models. External drives appear on the dock when plugged in. However, the vanilla Dash doesn't have this behavior.
