Memory leak in gnome-shell 3.38.1
I've found something that looks like a memory leak. Every morning I have to do F2+r to reboot gnome-shell but I only have this option while running under X. If on wayland I'm out of luck.
Leaving the system without doing nothing all night long I get this:
Affected version
I'm using ubuntu 20.10 groovy:
- Linux gray-compute 5.8.0-29-generic #31 (closed)-Ubuntu SMP Fri Nov 6 12:37:59 UTC 2020 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
- GNOME Shell 3.38.1
Bug summary
If I reboot the system and leave it without doing nothing the memory start to grow. I observe that doing operations like pressing window key and moving windows with alt+tab increases memory, sometimes it shrinks sometimes not.
The memory takes all available memory making system unresponsive. 7GB for a window manager/shell is too much in my opinion so doesn't seems like normal operation.
What happened
I do expect not more than 500mb for the app.
I will get memory map next time it happens (tomorrow) because I just killed the proc to fill the report.
