Sublime Text 3 / LibreOffice rendering freezes on random actions

Affected version

Manjaro update with 3.38-1 gnome on xorg / stable branch, kernel 5.4 / i5-8300H, intel hd 630

Bug summary

Random rendering freezes when using Sublime Text 3 (on text selection, tabs change, etc).

App continues to receive input, but does not update the window

Switching to another window or triggering hidden apps panel unfreezes

3.36 works flawlessly on the system
