gnome-shell, after a while, uses large CPU%, everything is SLOW
There is already a closed bug, which I cannot add to. So I'm opening a new one!
This is still going on. I'm on Ubuntu 20.04, gnome shell 3.36.4. I have 16 cores, 32 threads, 64G memory,
1 Tb nvme, nvidia 2060 graphics card with 4 monitors. This is the second time I've encountered this. Uptime says I've been up 8 days. I have Brave running, with 61 tabs, firefox with 59 tabs open, a few Mate terminals... sounds like a lot, but the hardware should handle this easily. I have several seconds delayed response on all terms, and sometimes the cursor takes a while to respond. I do a top, and get:
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND

rebooting gets me back to normal. Haven't tried more refined methods yet.
Yesterday, and this morning, the system was normal and responsive
Extremely irritating!
