gnome-shell freezes at random
Affected version
- GNOME Shell 3.36.6
- Linux 5.8.16-2-MANJARO # 1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Oct 19 11:33:03 UTC 2020 x86_64 GNU/Linux
- Dell Latitude 7480
Bug summary
Every once in a while, my laptop freezes partially. During this freeze I can move my mouse, and sound continues to work yet the rest of the graphical interface is on total lockdown i.e. I can't click or interact with any of my open windows and this will not recover after giving it time to work.
The only way to recover is sudo killall -3 gnome-shell
in a tty session and this solves my problem most of the times. Sometimes I need to reboot my machine.
Steps to reproduce
I have no clue how to reproduce the error, but it has been occurring infrequently (sometimes once a week, sometimes once a day) since I switched to Manjaro a year ago (from Windows).
Relevant logs, screenshots, screencasts etc.
I only have the logging of journalctl -xef, here
