Missing shortcut to restart/reboot machine since 3.38
Affected version
- Debian unstable/sid
- 3.38.0
- Both XOrg and Wayland
Bug summary
With previous GNOME versions it was really easy to reboot the system using only your keyboard and now it doesn't appear to be possible anymore in a standard way.
Previously, I could hit <Ctrl> + <Alt> + <Delete>
then <Right>
and
<Return>
and reboot my system, for example after installing updates or
when I want to switch to another OS installation in dual boot, etc.
Now the restart and shutdown dialogs have been split into two different
ones and it doesn't appear to be possible to assign the restart dialog
to a shortcut in any way in GNOME Settings either. (Maybe I could create
a custom shortcut to call systemctl reboot
but that would be a rather
ugly fix, right?)
I know that this is probably only an issue for certain power users but I really used it quite a lot and miss having it. Since the update it has actually happened to me that I poweroff the system now because I still have that keyboard combination ingrained in my muscle memory.
