ALT+TAB, SUPER+TAB and Activities Overview broken (due to Dash to Panel extension)
Affected version
- Fedora 32 Workstation
- Gnome Shell 3.36.5
- Kernel 5.7.14-200.fc32.x86_64
- XOrg and Wayland
Bug summary
Pressing the Super/Windows key makes the screen completely unresponsive until Alt+F2r is used to restart gnome-shell entirely. Alt+Tab is also gone (does not work whatsoever.)
I am using the official nvidia driver, but this also happens without the driver (my first course of action was to uninstall the driver and restart to make sure it was not the cause of the issue.)
All happened since upgrading gnome version from 3.36.2 - which worked.
Steps to reproduce
- Install Fedora 32 Workstation
sudo dnf yum update -y
sudo reboot
- Login
- Press Super/Windows key
What happened
The entire screen freezes, I am stuck in a quasi-state where the activities overview tries to display but cannot, so I am shown my existing windows (but slightly faded.) Dragging from the top of the screen down does not move the active window, instead drags only one tab (when Firefox was maximized before pressing Super for example.)
Alt+Tab or Super+Tab does nothing anymore.
What did you expect to happen
Show the activities overview as normal, or show Alt+Tab as normal (or Super+Tab)
Relevant logs, screenshots, screencasts etc.
I cannot take a screenshot because the whole monitor freezes up.
I have taken a picture with my phone for reference. Note the top left of the picture.
BIG HOWEVER
The issue is fixed by doing a dnf distro-sync
which resulted in:

Which leads me to believe that a broken package for version 3.36.5
was pushed to Fedora 32 Workstation at some point today.
