Mouse pointer stuttering over the calendar

When I move the mouse over the calendar I see the pointer is jerky and CPU is around 45% (Intel i7-7700). By comparison, moving the mouse over the "No Notifications" area is smooth and only requires 17% CPU. Moving the cursor over the desktop uses 10% CPU.
