Consider supporting AppIndicators by default (instead of a non-default extension)

Please, consider adding support for the Ubuntu AppIndicator standard. I know that this is probably against the current GNOME design, but there are still some applications that use tray icons and are hard to use on a stock GNOME because of the missing tray support.
