[FEATURE REQUEST] Do not lock screen on lid close
(Apologies if g-s-d isn't the right piece of software responsible)
Running Arch Linux, latest as of 2021-01-29, with gnome-settings-daemon=3.38.1-1
.
For as long as I can remember, I've had my GNOME session set up so that I could close my laptop lid without the screen locking. I never use suspend-on-lid-close and have turned it off via HandleLidSwitch=ignore
in /etc/systemd/logind.conf
.
Maybe a few week ago, or a few months, the behaviour on lid switch changed. Now the screen locks upon closing the lid but the system does not enter suspend. I do not remember whether I fiddled with gnome-tweak-tool in the meantime and accidentally re-checked "Suspend when laptop lid is closed" or whether I've always had it checked.
In either case, that means I do not have /usr/lib/gnome-tweak-tool-lid-inhibitor
(8MB-RAM-eating-python-script, ughhh) running in my session as of now.
I know I could check it, but I do not want to change the suspend behaviour, only the lock behaviour.
So, am I getting on in my years and just losing track of things, or did the lid close handling indeed change? And if so, how do I change it back? Is there an option or a gsetting
? Grepping surfaces all sorts of exceptions for external monitors but nothing related to my particular situation.
If this "setting" is not (yet) configurable, I'd be happy with a gsetting
key. I do realize by default (and also from a security standpoint) most people would probably want their screens to lock if they slam their laptops shut.
(There's another person who seems to have the same issue on /r/gnome)
