Brightness doesn't work with ddcci
Affected version
NixOS unstable + Linux 5.6.13, Gnome shell 3.36.2, Wayland (xorg untested)
Bug summary
I added the ddcci-driver
kernel extension, which adds /sys/class/backlight
devices for external monitors as e.g. ddcci1
.
Gnome doesn't seem to use these, I can only change the brightness of my internal display.
Steps to reproduce
- Make sure the
ddcci
module is loaded - Plug in HDMI display
- See that
/sys/class/backlight/ddcci1
exists - See that
brightnessctl
can be used to change the backlight brightness
What happened
- Gnome brightness only changes internal display, no slider for other screen in Power or Displays
What did you expect to happen
In Power and Displays, it should have a brightness slider per display. Using the brightness buttons should change the brightness of the display with the mouse cursor in it.
