        Fixes #100650, based on a patch from Arvind.

        * applet.[ch]:
        (panel_applet_remove_in_idle): new function.
        (applet_remove_callback): use it.

        * panel.c: (drop_internal_icon): remove the
        applet permanently rather than just destroying
        the widget.
