[Feature Request]: Add an Other/Discover Services option in the Gnome Settings Online Account
Add an Other
/Discover
services option in the Gnome Settings Online Accounts, to discover all the needed services the domain is configured with.
This in Evolution can be discovered with the "File
-> New
-> Collection account
". See screenshot below.
Evolution uses DNS srv records and other mail detection features.
Here is what it detected using my own mail services:
By supporting the DNS SRV record, you allow for people that have setup their own services, to add them to Gnome.
Below are a list of SRV records, one could have setup:
Sub domain | domain | Type | Content |
---|---|---|---|
_submission._tcp | .example.nl | SRV | 0 1 587 mail.example.com. |
_imap._tcp | .example.nl | SRV | 0 1 143 imap.example.com. |
_imaps._tcp | .example.nl | SRV | 0 1 993 imap.example.com. |
_pop3._tcp | .example.nl | SRV | 0 1 110 pop3.example.com. |
_pop3s._tcp | .example.nl | SRV | 0 1 995 pop3.example.com. |
_ldap._tcp | .example.com. | SRV | 10 50 389 ds1.example.com. |
SRV information table
Service | Info |
---|---|
_caldav | CalDAV Calendaring Support |
_caldavs | CalDAV Calendaring Support over SSL |
_carddav | CardDAV Address Book Support |
_carddavs | CardDAV Address Book Support over SSL |
_imap | IMAP Mail Access Support |
_imaps | IMAP Mail Access Support over SSL |
_pop3 | POP3 Mail Access Support |
_pop3s | POP3 Mail Access Support over SSL |
_submission | SMTP Client Mail Transfer Support |
_autodiscover | Specifies the server and port responsible for providing autodiscovery for mail services (via MailEnable's Autodiscovery Service) |
_ldap | The records you would use to describe this configuration in a BIND9 zone file |
These are just some common ones. If the SRV
support is added, people can add their own Mail/Calendar/Contacts/Documents/Photos/Files/Printers/... services.
