Clip covers instead of adding blank space
Migrated from https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=783734
Rather than showing empty/blank space in the covers, in the icon view, we could clip those covers. The games are usually still easily recognisable.
The video here shows what this looks like in another front-end: http://www.rom-game.fr/news/2696-Retroblox+-+la+console+etrange+dediee+a+l+emulation+s+appelle+desormais+Polymega.html#
It looks like most of their covers are custom and not programmatically generated, am I wrong?
I sometimes do my own custom covers to avoid the problem, I agree we should do something about it. What about having an squared-cover section in http://thegamesdb.net/ or using Polymega's cover source?
https://bug783734.bugzilla-attachments.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=354068 I meant those covers. They look quite nice and recognisable even if incomplete. It also means that it makes the display feel fuller and with less white space.
CC:ing @jimmac for an opinion.
