Non-US keyboard map gets obfuscated in remote desktop session, when using gnome-flashback in Ubuntu 18.04
The developer at Ubuntu suggested that I report this issue upstream; since it might not be a Ubuntu specific bug; please see: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-flashback/+bug/1767779
I initially though the issue was resolved; I did not connect to the server during the summer, and when I came back it worked. However after updating the system on 3rd September the issue returned.
Issue summary:
- Clean install of Ubuntu 18.04LTS desktop on my server.
- Activated Ubuntu's built in remote desktop sharing and it works without any problems.
- Installed GNOME-flashback 3.28.0-1ubuntu1 along with the dependencies, and when switching to GNOME-flashback session the keyboard map is obfuscated. Key-map is set to Swedish. When accessing the computer locally the keyboard works as it should. Switching back to normal GNOME the remote session works as it should. 4.The key-map is not a normal key-map. The standard letters and numbers are correct. Swedish unique letters and the signs like -/´§_( are on the wrong keys or missing completely. AltGR key is not recognized either.
setxkbmap -query
gives the following output both over remote desktop and locally:
rules: evdev
model: pc105
layout: se,us,us
variant: ,,
options: grp:caps_toggle,grp_led:scroll
