Region Formats Setting preferences are not fully respected throughout the Desktop UI
The date-time formats set within LC_TIME
are not respected within the GNOME Desktop/Settings when using different values for the Settings' Language
and Formats
preferences. However, when both match, then the date-time formats are respected and are as expected.
How to Reproduce:
Set the following under Settings >> Region & Language
- Set
Language
toEnglish (United States)
- Set
Formats
toKorea, Republic of
Issues:
Within several different areas within the UI, the date-time format appears to use the en-US
base date-time format with some ko-KR
replacements.
The month format always replaces (October
Oct
or 10
) with 10월
and the (AM/PM
) is always replaced with 오전/오후
. The day is sometimes replaced correctly when it is set to a non-numeric format; Wednesday
is replaced with 수요일
and Wed
is replaced with 수
; however W
does not seem to be replaced at all. However, again, they all follow the en-US
date-time base format instead of the ko-KR
date-time base format.
The following are places I have identified that do not follow the Settings Format preference.
