Integrate with `create_ap` (or incorporate it into the control center) in order to support a wireless hotspot whilst connected to a wireless network
This issue may be related with #65 (closed) and I'm not sure of whether I should report it here or in the gnome-shell
issue tracker.
I use create_ap
in order to maintain a wireless hotspot whilst staying connected to a wireless network.
The shell/control centre doesn't seem to be fully "aware" of what create_ap
is doing:
The highlighted portion of the shell interface represents the created hotspot. As you can see, it shows a generic "WiFi icon" and there is no visible SSID (even though the hotspot seems to correctly set one).
In the control centre, the same interface shows up repeated, and the second instance has an empty list of "visible networks".
As such, there are two goals that I would like to see achieved:
-
As perhaps a first step, attempt to recognise what create_ap
is doing and identify that the second interface represents a hotspot (I believe that the menu in the first image should have a "hotspot icon" as well as the hotspot's SSID). -
Incorporate whatever create_ap
does into GNOME's hotspot creation to allow the creation of wireless hotspots whilst staying connected to a wireless network, thus removing the need for the extra tool.
Thank you for your work!
