Issue
The gnome control center is unable to set the 104-key keyboard layout (ANSI layouyt), for make changes i need modify /etc/default/keyboard
to XKBMODEL="pc104"
, but gnome control center can't do it in a friendly way.
I buy a keyboard and it was difficult for me to configure, a normal user without in-depth knowledge could not use this type of keyboard:
Studying the topic, I have seen that there are two types of distributions, the ISO standard and the ANSI:
I have noticed that the gnome control panel allows you to select the keyboard language layout but not the type of layout, this is important in some countries such as those that use special keys such as ñ (ntilde), accents (áéíóú) , euro, etc. For example, in Chile, standard keyboards that contain the ñ key use an ISO layout of 105 keys, but in other places they use layouts of 104, especially for gamer chassis, almost all high-end and gamer keyboards have an ANSI layout of 104 keys. , so buying a good keyboard using Gnome is problematic because there is no standard section where you can tell the system that the keyboard will have a 104-key Spanish layout, as is the case with the Datacom keyboard:
Please add support so that people who like games on Gnu/Linux can use good hardware.
