No option to set correct keyboard model in GNOME 42.1 on ArchLinux
Hi!
I was trying to set a keyboard model in GNOME 42.1 but there is no setting, neither in Control Center nor in GNOME Tweaks. As I am using a Laptop with a modern defaced keyboard, I need to set the model. The model itself is known to evdev, so it works in systemds localectl, sway and KDE Plasma without problems, but GNOME seems to not respect those settings and keeps a pc105-model (with numpad and stuff).
Steps to reprocude: Switch to another model, e.g. dell101 (found in /usr/share/X11/xkb/geometry/dell) using localectl. (Re-)Login into the gnome-shell Click on the keyboard-layout-indicator (or in settings) and use "Show Keyboard Layout".
My system is ArchLinux
[gnome@wally ~]$ uname -a; gnome-shell --version;
Linux wally 5.17.9-arch1-1 #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed, 18 May 2022 17:30:11 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux
GNOME Shell 42.1
I did not install ibus, if this makes a difference.
Expected: Provide a solution to change the keyboard model (and perhaps add it to the help.gnome-Helpcenter).
