alt + shift or similar can no longer be set as a shortcut in gnome settings
Before Gnome 40 gnome settings allowed shortcuts like ALT + SHIFT to be set. Many people used something similar (if not mostly that and CTRL + SHIFT or simply CTRL) to switch keyboard layouts as it's convenient and it's been in use for decades. All of a sudden this stopped working in Gnome 40 but was not noticeable on upgrade as the setting stayed from older versions.
It's very inconvenient for bi-lingual people as switching layouts is sometimes necessary every few words and using combinations that involve other than control keys is:
a) prone to mistakes b) inconvenient c) plain non-functional
Please consider how this affects millions of users around the world who need to use two or even more languages on a daily basis.
Please restore the ability of gnome settings to set keyboard shortcuts to similar combinations. It's still possible but it involves running commands. If would be nice if it was possible to do it from gnome settings.
