Issue created Sep 04, 2018 by Mike FABIAN@mfabian

The adding input methods dialog in gnome-control-center is broken, all input methods are listed under "Other", none under the specific language it supports

See also: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1624743

gnome-control-center-3.29.90-1.fc29.x86_64

  • Open the gnome-control-center

  • Click on Region & Language

  • Click on the + button below the list of input methods. One sees only three dots and no list of languages. No list of input methods either.

  • Click on the 3 dots One sees one line which says "Other" (その他 in my screenshot, that means "Other" in Japanese). I.e. one only sees the line used for input methods which are not for any particular language (like ibus-uniemoji) or support many languages at once (like ibus-typing-booster or m17n-latn-post).

  • Type "inscript" into the search entry.

  • click on the "Other" line Now one can see a list of all input methods which have "inscript" in their name. "inscript" is just an example, all input methods for any language are now shown under other. The same problem happens when searching for "pinyin", it is found under "Other", not under "Chinese" as it should be. All input methods are under "Other".
