Only complains about missing argyllcms after spending 30 minutes capturing monitor calibration data
I'm using a Monaco Optix USB device for colour calbiration. I went through the "Calibration..." wizard in GNOME control center, and it spent 30 minutes displaying colour patches on the screen. At the very end it failed with the message
Calibration has failed.
The tools needed for calibration are not installed
You can remove the calibration device
The problem was the missing argyllcms package, after installation, everything worked fine.
If calibration requires argyllcms, GNOME control center should inform the user that immediately before consuming 30 minutes of their time collecting calibration data that will then be thrown away.
This was seen in Fedora 33 with gnome-control-center-3.38.1-2.fc33.x86_64
