## Description
When the Board Orientation setting is set to Current Player, the board flips around every move. But currently that's not animated at all: the board simply switches to the opposite position, which is jarring. Instead, it would be nice to have an animation which spins the board around quickly (both in 2-D and 3-D mode).

## Description
The "Chess Engines" section of the manual just claims that glchess works with a looooot of engines, but it completely omits a hint on what to do if it DOESN'T recognise an engine. What is the user supposed to do when he has enough expertise to edit a few config files and wants glchess to use a custom engine it doesn't recognise yet?
If adding unrecognised engines to glchess isn't possible without complicated measures (e.g. editing the source code), there should be instead a hint on whom to ask to get an unsupported engine added to the list of recognised engines (e.g. link to this bug tracker).

## Description
Hi,
would it be possible to make some of the chess notation signs locale dependent? The problem is that the Russian version of the algebraic notation (both long and short) is different from the English equivalent at some aspects, and so it is insufficient just to write the abbreviated piece names in Russian.
In particular:
-- capture is denoted by a semicolon (i. e. 'Кf3:d4' or 'К:d4' instead of 'Nf3xd4' or 'Nxd4');
-- a multiplication sign or an 'x' is used for checkmate instead of a '#';
-- there is no equals sign to indicate the pawn promotion (i. e. 'd8Ф' rather than 'd8=Q').
One more specific feature is that neither the rank nor a semicolon or 'x' are usually written then a capture by a pawn is described in the short notation (i. e. just 'ed' rather than 'exd5').
Note that some Russian chess players now seem to prefer the English notation (as it is used in PGN files), but if piece names are localized, then other rules of the Russian notation should also be confomed).

Add keyboard shortcuts for piece moving - i.e pressing a2a3 should move a white pawn. Pressing the first 'a' should highlight the a file and timeout if the rank is not entered in time. When a valid file and rank are entered the square should be selected as the mouse does. Escape should clear the selection.
Consider allowing SAN being entered?

## Description
I think it might be interesting to show the pieces that have been removed from the game off to the side of the board, kind of like they might be when playing on a real board.
I often find myself looking to the side of the board for the captured pieces -- especially because it can be difficult to see the pieces in the 3d view.

## Description
Currently glChess only allows the user to load the first game specified in a PGN file. This is mostly because the PGN parser is too slow to load large PGN files (can be 1.4M).
This can be bypassed by loading the files in the background and the user can stop loading once the first game is available.

## Description
From sf.net [bug 1755791](https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1755791):
It's generally expected with PGN viewers/Chess Interfaces that saving a
game onto an existing PGN file appends the game to the old file instead of
overwriting, thus destroying old games. This may not be technically a bug,
but it's a good idea to conform to the standard practice here.

## Description
glChess needs to be able to play network games.
The obvious protocol is the Internet Chess Server protocol (ICS). Unfortunately this is not well documented so the protocol will be quite fuzzy. The first server to work with should be the Free Internet Chess Server (FICS) at freechess.org.
For LAN play glChess can provide a cut-down ICS server it advertises using Avahi (Zeroconf/Bonjour).
The join game dialog should contain a list of Internet servers (e.g. FICS) and any locally detected servers.
