I don’t know if you’ve heard of Julia, but this is an extremely powerful new scripting language. It’s mainly used for numerical calculations and thus was first a free alternative to Matlab/R/etc, but it can also do much more common-scripting-tasks and is pretty easy to learn.
There is an extension called Juno (junolab.org) for Atom to make it more Matlab-like – i.e. providing a workspace overview, an internal plots window and some modifications for working with and inspecting code of the editor.
It would be wonderful if Julia could also be supported by Builder like Atom/Juno does, both via language server and those additions. These would surely be beneficial for other scripting languages, too.
