Windows XP video card driver issue
Hi!
I'm using Endless Os (linux). I've installed GNOME-Boxes to play some old Windows games (e.g. Age Of Empires 2, Stronghold etc.).
Due to Endless Os and its FlatPak package manager system I can't use any terminal commands that works om other OSes, neither I can find its location. So I'm restricted to the GUI of GNOME-Boxes and the default settings. So no Windows prior to XP can be installed due to bootdisks (integrated bootdisk ISO won't work either).
So I installed Windows XP. Runs okay. Stronghold runs well. AOE2 installs yet gives an error message when I want to start it.
According to Microsoft it might be a video card problem. Seems correct as according to the Hardware manager of WinXP it could not recognize the video card (a yellow question mark appears and says it's a VGA supporting video adapter). According to the internet QEMU emulates a Cirrus Logic Card I downloaded the driver yet it doesn't work. I found out in the debug log of the virtual machine of WinXp in the video part that Boxes uses "virtIO". I downloaded the drivers from RadHat doesn't works. I downloaded the full virtIO installer exe something. Installed everything but the video adapter because its not appropriate to my "hardware" according to WinXP. However a few unrecognizable (yellow question mark) PCI (?) stuff disappeared from the hardware manger so I guess the drivers worked.
So what is the exact video adapter that GNOME-Boxes emulates by default and how can I get WINXP driver for it? In other words: How can I make AOE2 working?
Thanks :)
