symlink on read-only NFS share redirects homedirectory -- prevents thunar to paste to homedirectory
This is a bug report coming from downstream Xfce Thunar: https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14718
Andre Miranda asked me to report the issue here. He is almost sure it's a GLib issue, because GLib is wrongly reporting the home directory to be read-only.
Required environment
USER's home directory:
- is served over NFS
- is a symlink
The symlink is located on a share of one server. This share is mounted read-only to USER's computer. The symlink points to a different local path with another symlink. That symlink can point to a different server.
Information about environment
I can reproduce the problem with Fedora 28 (and 29) x86_64 with this GLibc version:
$ rpm -q glibc
glibc-2.27-37.fc28.x86_64
The problem
Copy-pasting a file with content from the Desktop to the USER's home directory is denied with error message: "The destination is read-only."
A guide to reproduce the problem step-by-step is available: https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14718#c5
I am happy to test and help. Thank you for your help.
