Description
I'm the author of Gitblit, an open source, pure Java Git server. During the current development cycle I have added git client app menus which allow native apps with registered custom urls to be called from the browser. This is the same mechanism as "Clone in Windows" (or Mac) on GitHub and Bitbucket.
You can see a live demo of these client menus here (right now best demo'd on a Win or Mac client):

It would be really nice to offer a git client menu for an open source git client on the Linux platform.
Here are a few example URL schemes:
sourcetree://cloneRepo/${repoUrl} github-windows://openRepo/${repoUrl} gittower://openRepo/${repoUrl}
I would propose that you implement: gitg://cloneRepo/${repoUrl}
Or something like that, anyway.
Version: git master
