Operating System: Xubuntu 18.04

Description of the bug
Adding text to an image crashes Gimp.
Reproduction
Is the bug reproducible? Always.
Reproduction steps:
- Start Gimp via menu/shortcut or commandline
- Ctrl+N: Create new default image, size doesn't matter
- Activate Text tool in Toolbox or type 'T'
- Click on the image to start writing. One key press is enough to crash Gimp.
Expected result: Adding text to an image.
Actual result: Crash.
