GIMP saves HDRs with transparency
GIMP version: 2.8
Operating System: Gentoo Linux
Package: ebuild compilation
Description of the bug
If I open a PNG with transparency and save it as a .hdr file, when I reopen the .hdr file with The GIMP, I can still see the transparent regions in The GIMP.
This is incorrect as the .hdr format should not define any transparency channels.
In addition, Greg Ward, an expert on the .hdr format states that "the primaries are suspiciously wrong".
Reproduction
Is the bug reproducible? Always
Reproduction steps:
- Open transparent png in The GIMP
- Save as .hdr format
- Reopen .hdr file in The GIMP
…
Expected result: No transparency. Perhaps background should be black, just like the output of mogrify -format hdr foo.png
Actual result: The background remains transparent, and the "header" of the .hdr file has "suspiciously wrong" primaries. Not sure entirely what that means, though :)
