Copy-pasting text using Cmd ⌘ shortcut or "Edit" bar doesn't work.
Update by Bruno (2024/02/08)
This a issue about Cmd ⌘ (not Ctrl) key not working for shortcuts in macOS normally when it is the first key pressed. Also, noticeable some side confusion about the purpose of the Edit menu.
Environment/Versions
- GIMP version: 2.10.32 (recently upgraded from 2.10.14)
- Package: Installer from gimp.org
- Operating System: macOS Monterey 12.6.3
I recently updated GIMP from 2.10.14 to 2.10.32. Description of the bug
Since then, when trying to copy-paste text into GIMP using text commands or the "Edit" menu (e.g. pasting a colour code into the colour picker, or pasting text into the text tool), nothing happens.
Similarly, I am unable to copy-past text from GIMP anywhere else.
I have found that right-clicking and selecting "Copy" or "Paste" from the resultant menu works though.
Reproduction
Is the bug reproducible? Always.
Reproduction steps:
- Copy text either in or out of GIMP either using
Edit–Copy
or "Command-C" (orEdit–Cut
or "Command-X") - Click where I want the text to be posted
- Click "Edit->Paste" or press "Command-V"
…
Expected result: The text I want is pasted into either the Text tool or the Colour picker, or somewhere outside of GIMP.
Actual result: The text is not pasted.
If it is meant to go into the text tool, or I use "Edit->Copy", I get the following alert in the bottom bar:
If it is meant to be pasted into the colour picker and I use keyboard commands, or if it is meant to go somewhere outside of GIMP, then nothing happens.
I am not a dev and cannot check on the master.
Edit: Updated to include the fact that Cut-Pasting is affected as well.
