Python Plugins, Python-Fu & Brushes aren't loading (due to end of python2 support)
Environment/Versions
- GIMP version: > 2.1
- Package: > gimp/jammy,now 2.10.30-1build1 amd64 [installed,automatic]
- Operating System: > Linux
Description of the bug
Three issues appeared lately for me at once
- all plugins are executables and any python plugin is not installable
- Python-Fu console is missing
- Brushes do not load
Reproduction
Always | only for gimp 2.x
Reproduction steps:
- Get some python plugins | like "Duplicate to another Image"
- Go to Edit > Preferences > Folders > Plug-ins
- Add path to plugin folder
- Restart GIMP
- make a sampolic link from plugins dir to USER & root GIMP plugins dir
- Restart GIMP
- copy plugins into USER & root GIMP plugins dir
- Restart GIMP
- Tried to find Python-Fu console or gimpfu in the system python console (not found | not instalable)
- Try Filters > Script-Fu > refresh scripts
- tried to load Brushes the same way as no. 2 (some Potoshop and some GIMP prushes)
- Restart Gimp
- Update and restart the System
…
Expected result:
- 4,6,8: Load plugins
- 9,10: Run Python-Fu console and call "import gimpfu" or at least find Python-Fu console
- 12: Load Brushes
Actual result:
- No plugin is loaded
- Python-Fu option is not in menus
- brushes also are not loaded
Additional information
- when I see the gimp plugins dir I understand that it's all compiled executables and no python files
- But when the brushes don't load I don't understand why also brushes
