Issue created Feb 12, 2022 by José Landaverde@mjlmjl888

GIMP wont start and is displaying this error.

Environment/Versions

  • GIMP version: 2.99.8, 2.10.30, and 2.10.28.
  • Package:
  • Operating System: Installer from gimp.org downloaded via direct download.

Description of the bug

GIMP doesn't open at all when launching not even the splash screen pops up (the one with the mushrooms). When opening the gimp-console for each version it says.
../babl-0.1.88/babl/babl-internal.h:214 babl_log()
        failed to find trc '2.2'!

Reproduction

Is the bug reproducible? For me it always happens. At least it started to happen on February, 12th, 2022. I've been using GIMP for years now.

Reproduction steps:

  1. Download GIMP (any of the versions mentioned) with direct download.
  2. Install GIMP. I've tried reinstalling it onto "C:\Program Files (x86)", "E:\Program Files (x86)", and even in the E drives main folder. I've also once had it installed and working on "C:\Program Files (x86)" but I switched it to "E:\Program Files (x86)" which I used up until it stopped working.
  3. Launch GIMP.

…

Expected result: GIMP launches and works correctly.

Actual result: GIMP doesn't launch and displays the aforementioned error (in the console.)

Additional information

I also tried the portable versions and only the non-english versions worked.
