Scale tool cuts off parts of the image and flips it at random
- GIMP version: 2.10.28 and previous
- Package: Installer from gimp.org
- Operating System: Windows 10 20H2 build 19042.1348
When attempting to scale any image or layer with the scale tool, if shrinking one dimension, the image may be cut off in the other dimension (this is not related to canvas size or locking aspect ratio). The image may also disappear and or flip/stutter and flash on screen. Sometimes you are able to find an exact dimension that allows the full image, sometimes it disappears entirely.
Is the bug reproducible? Always
Reproduction steps:
- Launch GIMP
- Drag in image (Currently using .png, may be an issue with other image formats)
- Select scale tool
- Attempt to scale image
Expected result: Image scales in direction selected, with aspect ratio unlocked, the image should 'squish', and no loss of image should occur from scaling.
Actual result: Image scales in direction selected and clips in the other dimension unpredictably. Sometimes flashes and changes position on screen/content shown
