32-bit JPEG Image gets darker on every export/load cycle
Environment/Versions
- GIMP version: 2.10.28
- Package: Installer from gimp.org
- Operating System: Windows
Description of the bug
When loading a JPEG file and decide not to convert the color space, then the following thing happens: When I save as JPEG again "using the settings of the original image", the image is significantly darker after having loaded it again. When repeating the cycle about three times, the image is almost completely dark.
Reproduction
Is the bug reproducible? Always
Reproduction steps:
- Load image with "linear TRC from sRGB IEC61966-2.1" color profile (e.g. as exported by Adobe Lightroom 5)
- Enable option "Depth compensation"
- Select "Keep" (not "Convert")
- Save the image again.
- Repeat from step 1.
Expected result: The image should not become darker for every save cycle.
Actual result: The image gets darker for every save cycle.
Additional information
Example image can be found at https://photo.stackexchange.com/a/126769/82107 After about three save/load cycles the image looks like this:
It seems the problem happens when saving, because when viewing it before saving, the image still looks correct. Also it seems that "depth compensation" actually plays no role here.
