Literally TWO DOZEN Ubuntu crash reporter windows upon GIMP launch
Environment/Versions
- GIMP version: 2.10.18
- Package: Ubuntu package repository
- Operating System: Linux (Ubuntu Studio)
Description of the bug
Every time I launch GIMP, I get multiple Ubuntu apport crash reports from various plug-ins.
E.g., 'File "/usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/plugin-render-texture.py", line 121, raise RuntimeError, "Failed create layer." SyntaxError: invalid syntax
Also:
- plugin-heal-transparency.py: gimpfu import
- plugin-heal-transparency.py again (second window), same error
- plugin-resynth-enlarge.py, "failed duplicate image"
- plugin-resynth-enlarge.py, "failed duplicate image"
- plugin-resynth-sharpen.py, "failed duplicate image"
- plugin-resynth-sharpen.py, "failed duplicate image"
- plugin-resynth-sharpen.py, "failed duplicate image"
- plugin-resynth-fill-pattern.py: gimpfu import
- plugin-resynth-fill-pattern.py: gimpfu import
- plugin-heal-selection.py, "failed duplicate image"
- plugin-heal-selection.py, "failed duplicate image"
- plugin-heal-selection.py, "failed duplicate image"
As one might imagine, this is rather a counterincentive to using the software at all -- because I know, in advance, merely opening the software will produce a couple dozen pop-up windows from the crash reporter.
Actually, as I write this, the flood of crash report windows has not stopped. Every one that I close simply allows another one to open. Eventually it slows somewhat, but why should launching a program trigger TWENTY pop-ups. (Oh, three more just now.)
Seriously. TWENTY windows to dismiss.
I would like to find a polite word to describe this user experience, but I can't think of one.
Reproduction
On my system, this happens EVERY TIME I try to use GIMP.
Reproduction steps:
- Open GIMP.
- It may be necessary to open an image file, or maybe not. I'm not sure.
- Wait.
…
Expected result: Can just use the program without being interrupted by dozens of pop-up windows.
Actual result: Am interrupted by dozens of pop-up windows.
