GIMP 2.99 shows thumbnail on taskbar, making it difficult to spot it
Environment/Versions
- GIMP version: 2.99.6
- Package: flatpak
- Operating System: Debian 11 + KDE Plasma 5.20
Description of the bug
When running GIMP 2.99, the icon of application in the taskbar changes to display a thumbnail of the open image file. This makes it hard to spot GIMP, as it is never clear which app it is. Here is an example:
The white rectangle is GIMP. No other app, as far as I know, behaves like this, which means that the user is not expecting this behavior. On the other hand, the Wilber logo is always recognizable.
I have found a prior discussion about this by the team here: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-gui-list/2015-October/msg00029.html
At the time, it seems that it was agreed that the thumbnail is not useful. Moreover, on my system, GIMP 2.10 doesn't show this issue, which makes me think this was, perhaps, already solved in the stable branch?
