very slow open and save jpg images from Sony RX 100 camera
Environment/Versions
- GIMP version: 2.10.24
- Package: Gimp for Windows download from gimp.org
- Operating System: Windows 10 rev. 2004 64bit (8GB RAM)
Description of the bug
Jpeg images produced by the Sony RX 100 camera load and save very slow. When i open a picture (about 4,5 mb 10 megapixel) it takes ~ 15 seconds for finishing. The same effect occur by the "Export as..." menu. When i export the jpg image again as jpg (by pressing the Export button red 1 in screenshot) it takes again 15 sec. before the the export properties dialog (with the red 2 in the screenshot) is showing. By confirming the settings again 15 sec. is required for saving the file.
After some investigations after cut off the exif data via the jhead -de command the same image loads and saves in ~3 seconds. I found that images from other cameras have no such problems. Loading and saving is very quickly. The problem exists not in Gimp 2.10.18. It seems to be the Sony RX 100 produces very special or problematic exif data. The behaviour can reproduced with attached original camera file Sony-RX100-image.jpg.
Many thanks!
