Attempting to save to Dropbox-synced folder always fails, leaves messy goutputstream temp files

Environment/Versions

Description of the bug

I have been using GIMP with Dropbox for years but suddenly with a new GIMP install it has begun failing when I attempt to save. Every failed save attempt seems to leave a goutputstream temp file that is never cleaned up. I am working around this by alternative save file names (A version, B version, etc.), but this is unbelievably inconvenient. Any temporary advice to avoid this - beside disabling Dropbox, which has saved my work life more than once - would be appreciated.

Edition Windows 10 Home Version 20H2 Installed on ‎1/‎27/‎2021 OS build 19042.804 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0

Reproduction

Is the bug reproducible? ALWAYS

Reproduction steps:

  1. Run GIMP
  2. Save a file
  3. Make a change
  4. Attempt to save the file again

…

Expected result: File will save i.e. rename temp file appropriately as the new official file

Actual result: Error message, incomplete save, messy and HUGE temp files cluttering my hard drive.
