Gimp 2.99.4: Exporting PNG image fails (Plug-in crashed: "file-png.exe"): Procedure 'file-png-save' returned no return values
GIMP version: 2.99.4
Operating System: Windows 10, version 10.0.19041 Build 19041
Package: Latest windows installer from github development page: https://www.gimp.org/downloads/devel/ (https://download.gimp.org/mirror/pub/gimp/v2.99/windows/gimp-2.99.4-setup-1.exe)
Description of the bug
Opened an old xcf image, resized it down, did some exporting to various file formats, all worked fine. When exporting to png, got an error and no png output.
Reproduction
Is the bug reproducible? So far looks to be consistently happening. Even tried closing the software, starting a fresh instance and only doing the steps below.
Reproduction steps:
- Open software, drag xcf image to program
- File -> Export as
- Select filename, end with .png
- Hit export

Other
I tried searching for png export issues in issues and didn't find anything. If you guys want me to try other images or anything, let me know, I'm trying to be fairly active when it comes to helping development :)
Oh and happy new year.
