Scaling a greyscale image freezes application
GIMP version: GIMP 2.10.22
Operating System: Windows 10 Home
Package: Installer from gimp.org
When scaling a grey scale image GIMP freezes. Only way to resolve is to kill the GIMP task / process in Task Manager. Description of the bug
Reproduction
Is the bug reproducible?
Reproduction steps:
- Open a grey scale image
- Resize the image using Image > Scale Image...
- Enter new size and other options as required (makes no difference what options are selected)
- Click Scale
…
Expected result: Image would be scaled
Actual result: Progress bar will start to move and then stop, operation will never complete and GIMP process has to be manually terminated.
Additional information
If you convert the greyscale image into RGB mode and perform the same scaling operation it works fine. And of course the image can be converted back to greyscale. (So there is a workaround.)
