GIMP no longer honours "Use Anti-aliasing" setting for PDF import
GIMP version:
Note: bug reporters are expected to have verified the bug still exists either in the last stable version of GIMP or on updated development code (master branch).
Operating System: [Windows? macOS? Linux?] Open SUSE Leaf 15.2
Package: [flatpak? Installer from gimp.org? If another installer, tell us where from] 2.10.12 installed from Open SUSE Leaf 15.2 repository. 2.10.22 installed from gimp.org flatpak
Description of the bug
When importing a PDF file into GIMP, it no longer respects UN-checking the "Use Anti-aliasing" box. It ALWAYS anti-aliases both text and graphics. The attached tarball contains a full README describing the issue and sample files. GIMP_PDF_import_bug.tar.gz
Reproduction
Is the bug reproducible? [Always / Randomly / Happened only once ] Always
Reproduction steps:
- Open a PDF file with GIMP
- In the import dialog, UN-check "Use Anti-aliasing"
- Magnify the imported file and you'll see that the edges of simple graphics and text have the "fuzziness" of anti-aliasing.
- Save the file as a PNG and note its size
- Re-do steps 2 - 4, this time CHECKING the "Use Anti-aliasing" box.
- Notice how it has the exact same "fuzziness" to text and graphics, the same huge colour palette, and file size.
…
Expected result: A graphic (raster) file without the "fuzzy" edges on graphical or text elements, with fewer colours, and a far smaller size when saved as PNG.
Actual result: A graphic (raster) file WITH the "fuzzy" edges, expanded colour palette, and much larger file size.
Additional information
Both versions 2.10.22 and 2.10.12 do this. The version I used on CentOS 7.3 did not have this problem--it honoured the un-checking of "Use Anti-aliasing".
