Big (but compliant) BMP-images (indexed 100k) cannot be opened in GIMP

GIMP version: 2.10.20 win64

Big BMP-images (over 100k pixels in height) cannot be opened in GIMP. But if this image will be saved as TIF in another graphical editor, it can easily may be opened and editeg in GIMP.

Image type: unpacked BMP/TIF,

file size: 1200MB/1200MB

image height: 186394 pixels

image width: 6637 pixels

image colorspace: 8 bit with palette

image DPI: 600

GIMP memory consumpton in case of succesfully opening this TIF: ~16GB

GIMP error in case of opening this BMP: Image %% is not correct BMP file

But GIMP can export this image to BMP !!! And can not load it back from BMP. See attached samples. my_test_image.7z
